Fall 2006
Since August of this year we have been to the following campuses to preach the Gospel:
Fresno State , Arizona State-Tempe, Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Our thanks to Pastor Denver Wood, Pastor Charles Spencer, Pastor Anthony Munoz, Pastor Gerald Ellis, Pastor Robert Bermea and Pastor Mark Crosser for their Christian hospitality to this ministry in helping us forge ahead with the gospel. A special thanks to the Desert Cove Assembly and Pastor Gerald Ellis for their extra giving and help rendered. We have helped them to do some remodeling as they have a vision to expand their school, do more intense door-to-door/bus evangelism and a plan to reach the Native Indians in the surrounding Phoenix area. Pastor Denver Wood has begun Sat. evening services outside in Raisin City, CA to reach the Mexican population with an interpreter. Pastor Anthony Munoz and his church continue to preach open-air at Fresno State and other locations in Fresno. Pastor Spencer....well they just have outreaches everywhere. Pray for the work there. Pastor Bermea is reaching the Hispanic people in Sun City, AZ. Pastor Crosser reaches for the Native tribes in Flagstaff, AZ with his family as he works in conjunction with Bro. James Martin in their outreach. Join us as we pray for these and others who have sent us into the mission field. The fields are white."For our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:29
"They hate him that rebuketh in the GATE, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly." Amos 5:10
Choice greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We hope this writing finds you encouraged in the Lord and looking for His soon return. As the time draws near to His coming, we see the vital importance of prayer and God's Word taking the pre-eminence in our lives as we engage the enemies of the cross in the open-air as well as in the religious circles of our society in this 21st century. Nothing short of this will bring victory personally, family wise and ministerially. As "iniquity abounds", the love of many waxes cold. Faithfulness to prayer will bring us to victory through much opposition. The Lord has been faithful to us. We thank all who have prayed and supported us throughout the years as we have reached many souls thanks to your faithfulness. This brief summer/fall issue will bring you up to date on our current status as we begin our 7th year in campus ministry from the state of California. We are finishing up the final touches on our truck as we have extended it to 6 doors instead of the customary 4 doors to accommodate for our children in our travels. Thanks to the McCoy family from CA and their mechanical/fabrication expertise, the Lord has blessed us with dependable as well as roomy transportation. In July, I embarked on a mission trip to the Ukraine to preach at a youth camp at the end of July with Bro. Gene Thompson and Faith Missions out of Dundee, Fl. Unfortunately, I had to return within a week after preaching only a few days due to some sickness, part of which was fatigue and a carpal tunnel problem I had before I departed. It was disappointing for me but the Lord has helped me recover. My wife Sonya has been such a great help meet to me also of whom I am very thankful for. It was a LONG plane ride home. But the Lord was the lifter of my head. I was thankful this time that the people seated near me on the flights were less talkative. It gave me time to pray. One night after returning from the Ukraine, I called our family in for devotions after a day of preaching at Arizona State in Tempe. As I rose from the couch in the RV, my right arm apparently "popped" into place as I drew it across my body. For a second it hurt but moments later I had such relief!! Since then I have retained normal use of my arm/ hand. To God be the glory! We have many testimonies from our travels of God's healing, protection and provision that time/space will not permit. All praise to God. Thanks to the Burgess Family in Arbuckle, CA for letting us stay at their ranch as we finished repairs. This family was truly a "God-send." From our family to yours, may God bless and do pray for us. Let us not be guilty of blood-stained hands for neglecting our call to go into the trouble spots across our nation. Right now the door is open ... but for how much longer? (Ephesians 5:16) Maranatha.
Recently, (August of 2006) we received a letter from a faithful supporter to our work on the campuses. Sis. Martha Hennings from Arcata, CA had been supporting us for the last 3 years in prayer and finances. She was truly a woman of God and prayer who gave liberally to other works as well and attended Manila Holiness Church in CA. We wrote a testimony by her in the Fall/2003 issue of the Holiness Informer. She wrote this letter to us in Aug/06 and passed on at the age of 88. She is missed by many. May it encourage you to earnestly contend.
"Dear Brother Matt & Sis. Sonya And Family,
I would like for you to know that I have very much enjoyed your Newsletters. I admire your labor and toiling for the Lord. I have been a faithful supporter of your mission for a few years. It is with regret that I must write this letter today with such bad news.
It's been almost 3 weeks now that I have been diagnosed with cancer. By the time the doctor found the cancer it had already claimed the pancreas and both lungs and it continued to spread rapidly. I desire your prayers. The Lord has been good to me. So far I have suffered very little pain. I have requested my son to give me a Christian burial, (which she did) but he is strongly against it. Please, help me pray that my wishes will be carried through.
Due to my illness, I will no longer be able to send any more financial support. I will no longer need your newsletters for I am not able to read any longer. I feel that my mansion is almost completed and ready for me to move in. Until we meet over in Glory, may God bless you and your work for Him.
Your sister in Christ,
Rev. Martha P. Hennings
Teens/college kids are saturated with the world, sin and the flesh for the most part! Most of the church world has lost its ability to confront the behavioral atrocities committed by the 13-21 year old. It is still God's way to preach the LAW to convince sinners! So many have negated God's pattern in lieu of their own allowing their compassion to override their conviction. Man must be confronted with his moral crimes, including the "innocent teens" who willfully/knowingly commit sin (I John 5). We should show compassion to the penitent but he got to that place only by Holy Ghost conviction by the LAW. Grace can then work it's work of salvation as men REPENT. Crocodile tears, self-pity and excuses conjured up by sinners are only a ruse designed to shift blame to God or others. Don't be deceived. Those who cry "judge not" and "this isn't loving" are guilty. It is the preacher's duty to rip away every justification for sin. May God raise up a remnant of militant preachers in this last day to cry out against the hypocrisy and sin in the camp, streets, government, homes and churches in the U. S. A. (II Chron 7).
On the streets in "Old Towne", Fort Collins, CO with Pastor Phil Lapp & River of Life Fellowship from Loveland, CO. Many Colorado State students hang out here on Fri/Sat nights, many of whom we have preached to during the school week while on campus. It's amazing how many drunkards, infidels, blasphemers, and heretics fallaciously think they're in right standing with God! Many have been given over to strong delusion. Teen high schoolers frequent this area seeking dope, booze, etc. from college students who sell/buy. Some are runaways, most just rebels. Body piercing, tattoos, wild hair-dos and shabby dress describe much of this generation. In the midst of it all the Lord anointed us to preach and reason. We were spat upon, pushed, "projectiled", my Bible was taken (returned later by guilt-ridden male) but all together it was 2 weekends well spent in pursuit of the sinner to the glory of Christ. In the trenches with sinners trying to pull them out is the place a true believer should long to be. Jesus our Lord came to seek and save the lost (Matt 18:11).
SAN FRANCISCO GAY PRIDE PARADE: Eight of us donned banners and preached on Market St. 70-80% of homosexuals here have contracted hepatitis. Ave. income for a homosexual? $55, 430 while 49% hold professional/managerial positions. Where's the job discrimination? Almost 60% are COLLEGE Grads. Too bad they aren't smart enough to listen to God (Rom1:22). He will save them (I Cor 6:11) but for their militant pride and LEWDNESS (Prov 16:18). Notice 3 "give-ups" in Rom. 1. Will they beat our doors down as in the day of Lot?
BEWARE! Fred Phelps, Baptist pastor & hard line Calvinist goes about our land (mainly his family) picketing soldier funerals, sodomite funerals, etc. with a message leavened with cursing, anger & the belief that ALL sodomites are reprobate. Scriptures does teach that they can be saved IF they are not reprobate. They give open air preachers a very bad report. I have witnessed them in Iowa perverting truth, dragging American flags on the ground & cursing "in the name of God." WE WILL COUNTER-PREACH THESE PEOPLE WHEREVER WE GO! Their website: Godhatesfags.com. Visit & rebuke them. WE will oppose them as we can on all fronts.
Life on the road is not complete without children to share in the adventures of evangelism. Our 5 children, Gabrielle, Zach, Colton, Ben & Silas have been such a blessing to us as we grow with each other through each new test & trial that comes. We thank God for their sacrifice as we train them up in the ways of Christ (Prov 22:6). Since 1999, across the miles in over 40 states & 4 foreign countries, Sonya & I are grateful for a quiver of blessed arrows.
Joseph Stalin said this of USA..... "If we can effectively kill the national pride & patriotism of just ONE generation, we will have won that country. Therefore, there must be continued propaganda abroad to undermine the loyalty of the citizens and the TEENAGERS in particular...by making readily available drugs of various kinds; by giving a TEENAGER alcohol; by praising his wildness; by strangling him with sex literature and advertising to him/her...the psychopolitical preparation can create the necessary attitude of CHAOS, IDLENESS AND WORTHLESSNESS." Deuteronomy 5:9-10 says: "...for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the INIQUITY of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth GENERATION of them that HATE me, and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that LOVE me and keep my commandments." If we don't teach our young to give their lives to reach this lost world, they will be taken from us by this evil world we must shun. Awake Dad & Mom!
Fact: A Christian is condemned by the Roman Catholic church. The council of Trent & Vatican II pronounced over 100 anathemas (a person reviled or shunned) on Christians. Popes kiss Korans and declare heresies such as purgatory(#254-55) and Mary's sinlessness as co-redeemer (#494,969) Catholic catechism.
